Screen share it. Sharing your computer screen in real time allows your attendees to effectively “look over your shoulder” as you are talking. Your attendees will be able to see your screen as you see it. Screen sharing is the closest you can get to a physical meeting, and in many cases is actually more productive.
Schedule a specific time. Schedule the time of meetings to ensure all parties are committed to joining the meeting. Make sure all attendees confirm their acceptance of the meeting. Remember to account for possible multiple time zones when selecting your meeting time.
Engage attendees by assigning talking points. To help engage all attendees put a talking point for each person on everyone’s agenda. They will then focus on having something to say and share on this talking point. This will help everyone feel part of the team and also have them prepare for the meeting ahead of time.
Do not allow muting! You know some folks are busy on mute typing away multitasking in the background and not concentrating on your meeting. The best way to avoid this is to turn off the mute. Do not allow your meeting to mute their microphones.
Limit the number of participants. Frequent meetings with less attendees can be much more beneficial than having a say more than 5 attendees. This will improve meeting quality and sound quality for everyone. Meetings with just three or four attendees can be much more productive and engaging.
